So, North Carolina Farm Bureau has partnered with ID Experts to get you through the bureaucratic maze and restore your life to pre-theft status. And, it covers all family members in the household.
Membership in North Carolina Farm Bureau does not cost; it pays! This new membership benefit is a prime example - the cost for this service is included in your annual membership dues.
Identify theft is a huge national problem:
- one out of every 10 consumers has fallen victim to identity theft
- up to 15 million people had their identities stolen or misused in 2010
- most cases of identity theft involve credit card fraud, phone and utility fraud, and bank identity theft
- the average amount taken from each identity theft victim – more than $4,800.00
- Almost 45 percent of victims knew the perpetrator who stole their identity
How the Identity Theft Consultation and Restoration Service works:
- If you think your identity has been compromised, call 1-800-789-2565 to report the breach
- An assessment of your situation will be made to determine the nature and extent of the breach
- If it's determined your identity has been compromised, a Personal Recovery Advocate will be assigned and a case file will be opened
- Utilizing a Limited Power of Attorney, your personal advocate will work on your behalf to restore your identity to pre-theft status
- Your personal advocate will remain assigned to you for as long as it takes to restore your identity to pre-theft status
- Your case file is kept for three years in the event that additional issues arise from the original identity theft
What the ID Experts identity theft program is not:
- It is not designed to prevent ID theft
- It is not a credit monitoring service
- It is not an insurance product
- No exclusion for family fraud or unknown pre-existing ID theft
